Fiber Fusion Splicers and Processing Equipment

CO2 Laser Glass Processing System Vytran® Automated Glass Processors with Integrated Cleaver Vytran® Automated Glass Processors
The GPX4000LZ CO2 Laser Glass Processor Workstation integrates the furnace tower, fiber holding blocks, computer with operation and process development software, and other operational equipment into an easy-to-use rolling cart that can be positioned anywhere in the lab.

  • Glass Processor Workstation with Two Heating Modes
  • Integrated 40 W, Air-Cooled CO2 Laser with Adjustable Annular Beam Output; No Consumables Needed
  • Filament Furnace Heating via Filament Assemblies (Replacement Filament Assemblies Sold Separately Below)
  • Create Low-Loss (~0.02 dB) Splices in Standard Glass Fibers (See Specs Tab for Details)
  • Make Adiabatic Tapers in Single Mode, Multimode, Polarization-Maintaining, and Specialty Fibers
  • Fabricate End-Cap Terminations up to Ø5 mm (For Larger End Caps; Contact Tech Support)
  • Automated XY and Rotation Alignment
  • Side-View / End-View Imaging and Splice Loss Determination using True Core Imaging® Technology
The Vytran Glass Processor Workstations feature automatic XY and rotational alignment of the fiber and a diamond cleave blade that is integrated into the splice head. This combined functionality enables users to perform multiple operations on the same fiber without realigning the position and rotation of the fiber after each process step. Additionally, the camera system is equipped with ND filters that allow the user to view the fiber edges in real time while the filament is hot, providing fast feedback on splice/taper quality. The GPX3800 and GPX3850 can splice or taper fibers with outer diameters up to 1.25 mm or 1.7 mm, respectively.

  • Fabricate Splices, Tapers, Terminations, Couplers, and Combiners
  • Automated XY and Rotation Alignment
  • Diamond Cleave Blade Integrated into Splice Head
  • Real Time Hot Imaging of Fibers During Splicing or Tapering
  • Compatible with Single Mode, Multimode, Polarization-Maintaining, and Specialty Fibers
  • (See Applications Tab for Examples)
  • Create Low-Loss (~0.02 dB) Splices in Standard Glass Fibers (See Specs Tab for Details)
  • Measure Fiber Circularity, Centroid, and Core Eccentricity Using End-View Imaging
  • Software with Process Development GUI and Splice Process Library
The Vytran Glass Processor Workstations feature automatic XY and rotational alignment of the fiber and are especially designed for processing polarization-maintaining fibers as well as specialty fibers with microstructured cores. The GPX3400 and GPX3600 can splice fibers with outer diameters up to 1.25 mm or 1.7 mm, respectively.

Fiber End Face Interferometer Portable Connector End Face Geometry Interferometer
Thorlabs’ GL16 End Face Interferometer measures and images the end face geometry of single- and multi-fiber connectors. A non-contact technique called scanning white-light interferometry (SWLI) provides high accuracy, repeatability, and reliability for fiber connector testing, particularly for pass/fail testing using IEC or Telcordia requirements. The system can be controlled locally through the touchscreen display or remotely through a browser-based application allowing it to be easily integrated on the production floor.

  • 3D Interferometer for Measuring End Face Geometry
  • Non-Contact Scanning White Light Interferometry
  • Fully Compliant with Industry Standards, e.g., IEC and Telcordia
  • Compatible with All Major Connector Types (See Table Below)
  • NIST-Traceable Standards for Calibration of Magnification and Tilt Stage
  • Full Scan Information Available in ?8 Seconds (Typical) on Integrated Touchscreen
  • Browser-Based Application Supports Remote Access Operation
  • Data Exportable to .CSV Format, SQL Database, or Scan Report
Thorlabs’ Vytran® Connect-Chek® Interferometer automatically and precisely measures radius of curvature, apex offset of polish, and fiber undercut or protrusion on any PC or APC, single-fiber connector. The CC6000 interferometer uses a non-contact tilted-phase-analysis technique for fast, reliable measurements of connector end faces.

  • Automated, Non-Contact Analysis of Single-Fiber Connector End Faces
  • Quickly Measure Radius of Curvature, Apex Offset of Polish, and Fiber Undercut or Protrusion
  • Minimal Need for Refocusing Coupled with No Regularly Moving Components
  • Software can be Installed on PC (Not Included) with Windows® 7 or Higher
  • Interchangeable Mounts for Ø1.25 mm to Ø2.50 mm Ferrule, PC or APC, Single-Fiber Connectors
